The Artist's Story
I was born & raised in Yadkinville, North Carolina. My dad's side of the family is there. We still go every fall to see the beautiful Appalachian mountains where my dad went to collage. That place is my true home, & I miss it every day. My dream is to have a big plot of land in the mountains of NC where I can paint in my studio with the doors open & the crisp air flowing in, & a place to ride my future black Arabian horse, whom I already have a name for- Carolina. I moved to Jacksonville, Florida when I was 7 years old. I am now 22, married & have my handsome two & a half year old son Kiel (key-elle).
I fell in love with the Lord & horses when I was very young. I grew up in a Christian household.
As for horses, I connected with Arabians when I had my first riding lesson, around 11 years old. Now, I have a point to this story, hang with me. Her name was Abigail "Abby". She didn't belong to me, but I was the only one who rode her for pretty much the remainder of her life. We went to shows, she won me a Champion ribbon in western pleasure, & was my heart & soul for years. My trainer taught me how to train them, and I became so enthralled with Arabs- their beauty, power, sheer difficulty- they are not for the weak. I loved that. If the horse isn't trying to bolt over a leaf or throw me off cause they're "not feeling it" I don't want it. Give me a challenge- always. When Abby died, my heart broke. But over the years, I found a new quiet ranch where I've continued to train Arabs & other green horses.
Before I got pregnant in 2023, I was in the gym 3-5 times a week strength training, & in best shape of my life. I had to stop once I found out. After I had my son, I gained over 50 pounds, & truthfully, it crushed me. I was too tired to go to the gym anymore, I barely left the house, & ice cream was comforting. What can I say?
You're almost there, keep reading. I got to the point where I wanted to just be inside, especially in the Florida heat- Floridians know what I mean. I ran out of things to do. In March of 2026, my son was 2 years old. Feeling very alone, tired & bored, I asked myself "I wonder if I can paint?" I literally bought a canvas & a paintbrush & painted something from my life that I wanted to express. I immediately went, "Wait...I can paint?!" Shocked. Mind you, I have had ZERO painting classes, art classes, nothing. Ever. Not in my childhood...nothing. I felt overwhelmed knowing I found something I clicked with. Now, here I am, 6 months later, selling $2,000 paintings. God moves. He does. I now know that my hands are intended to bring an idea to life-I'm reflecting Christ- when He made me- us. Hence, why I paint landscape, animals, Arabians....Everything I do has a reason. All to glorify God with what i see & feel.
God bless.
